Aaron found that out the hard way this weekend. He was playing in his room with Christian, his 9 year old brother, and Sarah, a 4 year old family friend, and apparently he decided it would be a good idea to try to slide off the top bunk without the assistance of the ladder. In doing so, he managed to land just the right way and break two bones in his arm. After an incredibly long and difficult evening in the emergency room (i.e., mom trying very hard not to cry as they are x-raying the screaming 5 year old), he got sent home with a temporary fiberglass splint and sling. Then we went back to the e.r. on Sunday, because his hand swelled up to about 4 times it's natural size. All was well with it, it's just a normal side effect apparently. Anyway, Aaron is not all that impressed with the efficiency of the emergency room system, nor of the comfort of the e.r. beds. We went to see the orthopedic surgeon this afternoon to get a real cast to replace the temporary one they put on at the e.r. According to the doctor, Aaron was really lucky; usually when a bone breaks in the way that the one bone did, it actually breaks off and requires surgery. Luckily, all we had to do was get a cast. He did get to pick his favorite color, red, which helped things along!

Sounds like he was flying just fine, it's the landing that needs a littl work. :)
